About This Call
The Town of Parker Committee for Art in Public Places seeks a professional Colorado artist to create or provide an outdoor sculpture for the PACE Center in Parker, Colorado. The monumental sculpture will be placed in front of the glass windows near the main entrance. The artwork should generate a sense of harmony, movement, creativity, vibrancy, and diversity while demonstrating Parker's hometown feel through playfulness, uniqueness, and dedication to the arts, history, and scientific fields. Artists are encouraged to explore different materials and ideas, and to share their vision for how the piece best represents the PACE Center, Parker, and its citizens.
The PACE Center is a one-story, 50,000 square foot building located in downtown Parker's heart, designed by Semple Brown Designs. It will include a 500-seat theater, lobby, art gallery, event room, classrooms, and catering kitchen, opening in October 2011. The facility will host professional and community arts events including theater, dance, music, visual arts, and classes.
Qualifications: Professional Colorado artists working in any outdoor and three-dimensional medium. Original works are preferred; limited edition works are acceptable if the artist guarantees the same work will not be placed within 100 miles of this site. Artists must submit a resume with examples of completed projects similar in complexity and scale. Total art budget is $90,000 (includes delivery and installation). Application deadline: January 28, 2011. Applicants must submit up to 6 digital images of previously completed work, a resume, and an artist statement of no more than 3,000 characters. There is no application fee. Up to ten artists will be chosen for round one interviews; five will be selected as semi-finalists and asked to create a maquette for the second interview. Semi-finalists proposing new work will receive $1,500 for time and materials. Site tours available December 16, 17, 20, or 21; contact Kelly Kuper at 303.434.1560 or [email protected].
