About This Call
The Town of Bennett, a statutory town located in Adams and Arapahoe Counties in eastern Colorado, is commissioning an artist or artist team to create a site-specific kinetic wind sculpture for display at Bennett Town Hall in the town's Civic Center Park. The sculpture will highlight and celebrate the town's rural heritage and vision for the future, inspiring a sense of connectedness and community pride. The installation area is approximately 21 x 24 feet.
The project budget ranges from $70,000 to $100,000 (all-inclusive), covering design, fabrication, transportation, and installation. Important themes include community history, connection/transformation, movement, and imagery such as flowers, animals, birds, insects, characters, artistic scenes, trees, and stars. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for developing final design documents, executing the design on schedule, transporting and installing the artwork, providing maintenance and conservation instructions, and coordinating with the Town's Public Works Director. Artists are encouraged to participate in the dedication ceremony.
Eligibility is open to professional artists residing in the U.S., with slight preference given to artists living or working in Colorado. Submissions should include a CV/resume (no more than 3 pages), three to five professional references, up to 10 sample images of previous work, and responses to two questions (no more than 1000 words each) addressing your interest in the project and your experience with site-specific sculpture installations. Work samples should include 2-15 images of fabricated work and details only; renderings without final fabricated work images should not be submitted. The entry deadline is July 8, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Submissions are made through CaFÉ (callforentry.org) with no entry fee. The tentative timeline includes panel review in July 2022, finalist announcement in August 2022, final design and contract execution in Fall 2022, and installation in Spring 2023.
