About This Call
Jackson Hole Community Pathways requests qualifications for the design and fabrication of a series of creative, iconic, graphic signs for the Town of Jackson Bike Network. Graphics will be designed to print on 12 x 18" standard street signs using 2-4 color process. Final artwork should be submitted as vector files.
The Pathways program is looking for an artist to design a series of 5-7 bold images that are easy to read from a distance or in motion. Graphics should identify safe practices, particular bike routes, unique features of the routes and promote educational messages sponsored by the Pathways department. School children, visitors and residents of all ages use the bike network and imagery should be easy to understand, family friendly and promote community values. The artist agrees to allow Friends of Pathways use of the graphics in their advertising and on custom printed items for a limited time.
Artists must demonstrate prior experience designing simple graphic imagery. Artist familiarity with printing process is helpful. Artists living within the United States are invited to apply. Local or regional artists may be given preference. Artists who are cyclists or have created bicycle related imagery are encouraged to apply. The project budget is $4,500. One to three finalists will be identified to receive a $300 honorarium to develop conceptual designs. The selected artist will enter a commission agreement to create 5-7 original designs and work with project stakeholders to refine designs in preparation for printing.
Applicants will submit qualifications through the Western States Arts Federation CAFÉ website. Submission requirements include: a letter of interest (500 words maximum), a two-page professional resume, up to 3 current references, and 6 images of previously created work (JPEG format, 1920 pixels maximum on longest side, 72 dpi, under 2MB file size). Applications are limited to the first 200 received.
