About This Call
Touchstone Foundation for the Arts seeks exhibition proposals from artists, non-profit art organizations, artist collectives, curators, and others for solo exhibitions, installations, group exhibitions, and more. This call is especially relevant for bodies of work, exhibitions, or installations already in progress or complete, or ideas already in motion but in need of space. At least 5 images (or one image and one video) representing the intended work are required for application. Works cannot have been exhibited as a complete exhibition previously, though individual works that may have been previously exhibited do not disqualify a project.
Exhibition space will be at Touchstone Gallery in Downtown DC from December 6, 2023 - January 7, 2024 or February 28 - March 31, 2024. The opportunity includes approximately 400 sq ft of staffed gallery space with moveable interior walls that will be arranged with input from selected artists, marketing and publicity including press release and social media coverage, sales processing and client support, curatorial and installation support if needed, and an opening reception. Jurors are Allison Nance (Managing Director of The Nicholson Project) and Tim Wright (Founder of Attucks Adams; museum educator & historian).
The $40 application fee supports Touchstone Foundation for the Arts programming. Artists must arrange for self-installation and deinstallation on provided dates; storage is not available. Works are not required to be for sale, but sold works are subject to a 40% gallery commission. Eligibility: Artists must be based within 50 miles of Touchstone Gallery. For group exhibitions, at least 50% of artists involved (or the organization) must be based within 50 miles. Non-profit organizations based within the radius may include artists from anywhere. Fee waivers are available; contact [email protected] to inquire.
