About This Call

Tiny But Mighty is a national exhibition of small three-dimensional works that do not exceed 8 inches in their longest dimensions. Original works in all media, traditional or non-traditional, are welcomed, including both freestanding and wall-mounted pieces. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. Work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. All styles and aesthetics are considered, though content should be appropriate for all viewers. Small works that fit together to make one unified work may be submitted as long as no individual section exceeds 8 inches. Works cannot exceed 30 pounds in weight.

The exhibition will be held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, located in the NEON district. The d'Art Center is a thirty-year-old public non-profit art center that includes working professional artist studios and exhibitions. The show will be housed in d'Art's main exhibition space, the Harbor Group International Gallery. Exhibition dates are May 3 - June 9, 2018, with a reception on Thursday, May 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The juror is John Roth, a sculpture professor at Old Dominiam University.

Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for a $35 entry fee. Submissions must be made through Call for Entries (Cafe) and are due by Sunday, April 8, 2018. Notifications will be sent by email by April 12, 2018. Accepted works must arrive by Thursday, April 26, 2018. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). The d'Art Center retains a 40% commission on sales (artist receives 60%), not including awards. All 3D wall-mounted works must be equipped with hanging hardware. Works requiring special presentation or installation must include those displays and clear instructions. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must arrange pre-paid call tags through UPS or FedEx for both delivery and return. Artists are strongly recommended to insure their own works. Works not picked up within one month of the exhibition's end become property of the d'Art Center.
