About This Call
Timeless is a fashion design competition seeking apparel designers and fiber artists to create looks that celebrate adults over 50 years old. The theme aims to encourage the inclusion of this demographic in the fashion industry's consciousness.
Designers must submit complete looks to dress a model from head to toe. All clothing must be made by the artist and be wearable and durable enough for runway wear and rehearsals. Accessories and shoes can be included but do not need to be designer-made. No premade garments are accepted unless significantly repurposed or upcycled. Designers may use commercial patterns or draft their own. Submissions include 3-6 images of prior work (5MB or less, JPEG format) and up to two additional images/drawings of the contest design. Entry fees are $20 for members and $35 for non-members. Awards include 1st place $500, 2nd place $200, and Viewer's Choice gift certificate. The juror is Andrea Kenner, a fashion designer with over two decades of experience specializing in knitwear and intimate apparel design.
All models must be 50 or older and can be the designer, a friend, or family member. Accepted designers without a 50+ model will be paired with one from the Sonoma County Senior community. Designs will be for sale at the October 5th event with designers receiving 75% of the sales price. Designers are encouraged to use recycled or upcycled materials. Accepted designers will receive support from design experts as needed. Notification of acceptance is by July 22, 2024. Shipped work must arrive by September 15, 2024; hand-delivered work must be received by September 21 between 11 AM-1 PM. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must include prepaid return shipping forms.
