About This Call
Sundance Square and Artspace111 Consulting are seeking artists or artist teams based in Texas to participate in the T.I.M.E. Mural Project, a new and innovative mural project in downtown Fort Worth. Artists of all experience and skill levels are encouraged to apply. The second round seeks at least 6 artists to complete murals during 2021-2022.
This mural project encourages collaboration between mural artists, experimentation, and unique artistic vision. The scope covers 2 warehouse buildings, with each selected artist assigned a mural section. Mural sections vary slightly in size, and designs are not required to incorporate the entire surface. Artists are encouraged to consider adjacent murals in sequence to foster collaboration. The T.I.M.E. project will constantly evolve, and murals may be partially or completely painted over in the future. All works must be envisioned as temporary and will be visible for at least 6 months. Each artist will be given 1 month to complete their mural.
Each selected artist will receive $2,000 total to execute their mural, including design mock-up, supplies, and artist fee. Payment is split: ½ upon signing an artist agreement and ½ upon project completion. A small lift will be available (coordinated with Artspace111), and electricity and security will be provided on-site. Bathroom and cleanup facilities are available in Sundance Square. Artists selected who need to travel more than 30 miles will have access to free lodging in Fort Worth for up to one month.
Applicants must be based in Texas and submit a minimum of 3 example images of work completed in the last year (maximum 6 images), a letter of interest, and a bio or CV. At application, mural designs are not required; selected artists will submit designs for approval by Sundance Square before beginning work. The second round deadline is January 5, 2022. Selected artists will be notified by January 15, 2022, with work beginning February 15, 2022. For questions, contact [email protected].
