Through The Lens

Through The Lens is an open juried international photography exhibition hosted by ALRI at The VETS Gallery in Providence, RI. The exhibition runs from Friday, December 1st, 2017 through Saturday, March 3rd, 2018, with a reception and awards ceremony on Thursday, December 14th, 2017 from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Photography from any genre, medium, substrate, process or perspective is eligible, including contemporary, historical, experimental, or futuristic work in 2D or 3D formats. All art must have photography as its dominant element. Artists may submit up to 20 images. The entry fee is $40 for the first image and $15 for each additional image (reduced rates available for ALRI members). Maximum artwork size is 48" wide by 72" high including frame. 3D work must have an overall footprint of 24" x 24" or less with a weight limit of 35 lbs. All work must be exhibition ready with appropriate hardware and cannot use saw-tooth hangers, clips, or dark colored mats. Artwork previously exhibited with ALRI is not permitted, and reprints are not allowed.

Eligibility is open to any artist 18 years or older. The juror is Paula Tognarelli, Executive Director and Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography. Cash awards totaling $1,000 will be distributed along with non-cash awards. Accepted work must be delivered in person on Monday, November 27th or Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, or shipped to arrive at a designated UPS facility in Rhode Island by Saturday, November 25th, 2017. A $15 handling fee applies to shipped work. Sales are encouraged with ALRI taking a 30% commission from members or 40% from non-members. Artists will be paid within 30 calendar days after the exhibition closes. Notification of acceptance will be sent on or before Monday, November 13th, 2017 via email.
