Through My Lens - Cortland National Photography Exhibit

The Cultural Council of Cortland County (CCCC) will host the Inaugural National Juried Photography Exhibition "Through My Lens" from August 19 through October 16, 2014, at the Main St SUNY Cortland Beard Gallery, 9 Main Street, Cortland. The gallery is a modern first floor handicap accessible space. Entry fee is $35 for non-members and $25 for CCCC members, with a maximum of two entries per person.

Jurors with outstanding professional credentials will select approximately 50 photographs for the exhibition from submitted jpeg images. A Juror of Awards will select award-winning photographs after the exhibit is hung and will deliver a talk at a reception on September 5, 2014, coinciding with Cortland First Fridays. The CCCC will publish an Exhibition Catalogue including a list of all accepted entries, photographs of award-winning works, and statements by the two judges. All entrants will receive the catalogue.

Awards total $2,350: $1,000 First Place, $500 Second Place, $250 Third Place, and six honorable mentions of $100 each. The exhibit is open to all photographers, amateur and professional. Entries must be original, photographically derived, and created within the past three years. All exhibited work must be professional-quality framed, wired and ready for installation with plexiglass glazing for shipped work. Minimum framed size is 250 square inches; maximum is 2400 square inches. All work must be for sale with a 30% commission collected by CCCC. Work designated as not for sale will not be considered for awards. Acceptance notifications will be emailed July 11, 2014. Shipped artwork deadline is August 4, 2014. Hand-delivered work may be dropped off August 14-15, 2014. Hand-delivered work will be picked up October 17, 2014. Shipped work will be repacked and shipped back via UPS at owner's expense by October 31, 2014.
