About This Call
Mutual Reawakening Collaborative, supported by the Nova Institute for Health, is seeking submissions for an exhibition entitled "Thrive! Healthy People – Healthy Planet" to be displayed at University of Michigan Health, Ann Arbor, MI from December 2022 through March 2023. Approximately 10,000 people a day view exhibits throughout this medical center. The exhibition is expected to subsequently travel to other healthcare organizations throughout the United States.
The exhibition seeks fine art photography that uses multiple images to tell a story about nine themes essential for health: Air, Water, Food, Shelter, Energy, Safety, Community, Biodiversity, and Purpose. Additionally, a 2-D digital art piece is needed that interweaves all themes for the exhibition banner. Thematic photograph submissions must include one large central image (30 in. x 40 in. when printed) and 3-4 smaller photos (16 in. x 20 in. when printed) elaborating on the theme or demonstrating positive action. Entry images should be formatted in 3/4 ratio (1500 x 2000 pixels). Banner design submissions may be an original design, digitized painting, or photograph/collage with digitized additions, and will be featured on a 4 ft. x 8 ft. banner. High-resolution files will be required of selected artists. All imagery must be original and self-generated.
Artists may submit up to ten separate applications, with each application representing no more than one theme or the banner design. There is no entry fee. Both U.S. and international artists are welcome. Selected theme photographs will be juried for prizes: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $750, 3rd - $500. The selected 2-D digital artist will be awarded $1000. Notifications will be sent by August 31, 2022. Submitted artwork must be appropriate for a hospital setting; pieces containing overt sexual content, violence, nudity, confrontational or chaotic imagery, obviously depressing content, or negative medical connotations will not be considered.
