Thresholds

The Abstract Art Collective (AAC) is seeking submissions for "Thresholds," a juried member exhibition. This is an AAC members-only exhibition; you must be a current member of the AAC to be eligible to participate. Entry fee will not be refunded for non-members.

The exhibition will run November 2-29, 2024 at Voice Gallery, La Cumbre Plaza, 121 S. Hope Avenue, Santa Barbara. Ingathering is Friday, November 1st, 10am-12pm (hanging 12pm-5pm). The opening reception is November 7th, 5-8pm, with a 3rd Friday reception on November 15th, 5-8pm. Takedown is Saturday, November 30th, 10am-12pm. The juror is Jan Ziegler, founding owner/director of 10 West Gallery and a founding member of the AAC.

Submissions are for abstract art in both 2D and 3D formats. Artists are invited to interpret the "Thresholds" theme loosely. The AAC supports a broad definition of abstract art ranging from non-objective to conceptual work. 2D work must be no more than 4 feet wide with frame, no limit on height, and no more than 6 inches deep. Paintings must be back wired with standard multi-strand picture wire. No giclée copies of original paintings are accepted; inkjet prints of digitally created work, hand-pulled prints, and photography are accepted. 3D sculptures should be less than 100 lbs, less than 8 feet high, and take less than 6 square feet of floor space. Free standing sculptures must be stable or bolted to a base. Artists are encouraged to bring their own pedestals; the AAC will provide a limited number.

Entry deadline is October 6th, 11pm PST. Up to 5 entries: $30 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry, payable through CaFE. Online submission is through CaFE from September 15th to October 6th. Acceptance notification is October 18th. Artists keep 90% of sales, with 10% going to the AAC. Work must be clearly labeled with artist name, medium, and title. Delivery is November 1st, 10am-12pm.
