Threading the Needle: National Art Quilt Exhibition

Threading the Needle: National Art Quilt Exhibition is a competitive national exhibition organized by the Webber Gallery of the College of Central Florida. Open to both 2D and 3D quilted works, the exhibition presents a celebration and examination of contemporary art quilts from artists throughout the United States. The exhibition will be on view from November 7 to December 12, 2024.

Eligibility: North American artists residing in the United States, 18 years and older. Work must have been completed within the last three years. No student work or work created as a result of a class or workshop will be accepted. Work must be predominantly fabric or fabric-like material and composed of at least three layers held together by stitching. 2D quilts must have a three-inch (8 cm) or greater finished double casing (sleeve) sewn in the top edge. 3D free-standing quilt sculptures are encouraged but must be identified as such in the entry description; maximum size for plexiglas cases is 29" x 29" x 29". Entries must include a short description of techniques and materials (1000 character limit) and a short artist statement (1000 character limit).

Entry fee: $25 per submission, which covers 1-3 entries. Submission deadline: September 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jurying takes place September 16-30, with notifications emailed October 1. Artwork must be received by October 31, 2024. The juror is SAQA member and Florida quilt artist Bobbi Baugh. Five cash prizes will be awarded: First Prize $700, Second Prize $350, Third Prize $200, and two Honorable Mentions at $50 each. A 10% commission will be charged on all sales.
