Thompson Valley Art League/Lincoln Gallery Mural - Loveland, Colorado

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places (AIPP) and the Thompson Valley Art League (TVAL) seek a mural artist to create a large, 3-sided outdoor mural which captures the essence of artistic expression, inviting viewers to explore the rich tapestry of creativity. The mural will encompass two sides and a 3-foot wrap onto the back of the Lincoln Gallery building located in downtown Loveland. The gallery's north wall is adjacent to the municipal parking lot (central to the Loveland Creative District) and the Loveland Museum. The project should be completed by August 2024. A maximum all-inclusive budget of $25,000 has been allocated for this project.

This is a Request for Qualifications requiring samples of past work. Artists must have experience with successfully executing large-scale mural works, thorough knowledge of appropriate art media, and the ability to work with diverse groups effectively and diplomatically. Applications must be submitted by the artist(s) applying; design proposals should not be submitted as doing so will eliminate the application from consideration. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

The Artwork Jury panel will consist of four members of the Loveland Visual Arts Commission, three TVAL members and their Executive Director, and two community volunteers. Based on applications received, the jury may select up to three finalists to present mural design concepts. Finalists will be paid an honorarium to present their design. The selected design should be a dynamic and vibrant blending of color to create fluidity and movement, celebrate the beauty of Loveland, incorporate the culture of art in the Northern Colorado community, be appropriate in scale and complement existing architecture, be suitable for public viewing, and have immediate visual impact. The final awarded artist/artist team will enter into a contract with TVAL and will be required to carry general liability insurance of $1 million.
