Third LaGrange Southeast Regional

The Third LaGrange Southeast Regional is a juried competition open to artists in the southeast over 18 years of age from the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. All work must be original and completed within the last two years. The competition traces its roots to the LaGrange National Competition, which began in 1964. The LaGrange Southeast Regional provides exhibition opportunities and purchase possibilities for artists, while offering the LaGrange Art Museum and Lamar Dodd Art Center a means for developing significant collections of contemporary American art.

Submissions are accepted in the following categories: Drawings, Paintings, Prints, Sculpture, Photography, Ceramics, and Mixed Media. Artists may enter up to 4 works with an entry fee of $40. Work samples must include 1-4 images. Accepted works will be exhibited at either the LaGrange Art Museum (112 Lafayette Parkway, LaGrange, GA 30240) or the Lamar Dodd Art Center at LaGrange College (310 Panther Way, LaGrange, GA 30240). Purchase Awards will be made, with purchased works added to the permanent collections of the sponsors. The Juror will also present Merit Awards to a limited number of works.

Paintings, Prints, and Drawings must be framed or have museum-finished edges, ready for hanging with wire in place. Works on paper must be matted with white or off-white mats under plastic glazing, not glass. Maximum framed size may not exceed 84 inches in either height or width. Ceramics, Sculpture, Decorative Arts, and Mixed Media should not exceed six feet in any direction or weigh more than 400 pounds. Artwork requiring installation must be delivered and installed by the artist and disassembled and picked up by April 30, 2020. Accepted works must be delivered between January 22, 2020 and February 7, 2020. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the exhibition. Acceptance notifications will be emailed by January 17, 2020. The award ceremony and gala receptions are scheduled for February 21, 2020. Exhibitions will be on view through April 18, 2020. No accepted work may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition, and works cannot be substituted once accepted.
