About This Call
The City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and The Havana Business Improvement District are seeking outdoor sculpture for exhibition on Havana Street for one year. Installation is scheduled for early October 2013. This is a collaboration between the City of Aurora Art in Public Places Program and The Havana Business Improvement District, a business improvement district along Havana Street from 6th Avenue to Dartmouth in Aurora, Colorado.
Exhibiting artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for transportation and installation. Sculptures may be purchased for the City's public art collection. The Havana Business Improvement District is providing funding for cash awards: People's Choice $1,000, 1st Place $750, 2nd Place $500, and 3rd Place $250. Sculptures must be freestanding three-dimensional work suitable for outdoor placement, measuring between 4' and 14' tall and weighing between 100 and 4,000 lbs. Materials must be durable, require little maintenance, and be graffiti resistant to withstand Colorado's weather conditions. Artwork should not have sharp objects or edges for public safety. Sculptures must be exhibited for the full length of the exhibit and attached to a steel plate bolted to a concrete base unless other design considerations are appropriate. Artists must transport and install their own artwork.
Submit up to two sculptures with a minimum of two digital images per sculpture (front and back, four images total). Applications are taken through CAFE at www.callforentry.org. Submissions require a professional resume (limited to three pages) and an image list with title, media, dimensions, weight, height, and sale price. No hard copy submissions accepted. Contact [email protected] with questions.
