About This Call
The Winter Show is a juried all-media exhibition hosted by Palos Verdes Art Center, open exclusively to current PVAC members in good standing. The exhibition runs December 1, 2023 through January 6, 2024.
Juror Paloma Barhaugh-Bordas is a printmaker, artist, educator and activist from Denver. She earned her BA at Carleton College and her MFA in printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work explores intersections between humans and nature, addressing migration, queerness, and socio-geographic boundaries through textiles, cyanotype, and mesh fabric. Her work has been shown at venues including the Handwerker Gallery, Buffalo Artist's Studios, and Sediment Arts, and she has attended residencies at Casa Lu, ACRE, the Women's Studio Workshop, the Kala Art Institute, and Japan's Mi-Lab.
Artists may submit up to 3 pieces of original artwork produced within the last three years. Entry fee is $35 for up to 3 submissions. Work must be submitted online via CaFÉ by October 19, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Image files must be JPEG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, and RGB color profile. Juror selections will be announced by October 27. Selected artwork must be hand-delivered to the Main Gallery on November 17 between 9:00 and 11:00 am. Maximum size for 2-dimensional work is 50 x 60 inches including framing and 30 pounds. Maximum size for 3-dimensional work is 72 x 36 x 36 inches and 150 pounds. All 2-dimensional work should be ready to hang with D-rings, wire, or French cleats. PVAC takes a 25% commission on all sales. Artwork must remain in the exhibition until January 8 for pickup. Insurance coverage applies only during the exhibition duration; PVAC carries no earthquake insurance. For questions, contact Scott Andrews at [email protected].
