About This Call
The Time Machine is an exhibition held in conjunction with the annual Wearable Arts Festival, a month-long series of events in March 2017 featuring exhibitions, community participation in art-related events, and participation of arts professionals in Norfolk, Virginia. The festival is sponsored and facilitated by the d'Art Center, a non-profit art center in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
Works included in The Time Machine will be original wearable art works of any media powered by the imagination of art and science. The exhibition will be hosted in three separate galleries: the Harbor Group International Gallery and Rotating Gallery at the d'Art Center, and the Education Gallery at the Chrysler Museum of Art. The d'Art Center Wearable Arts Festival Committee will determine the location of individual works accepted for the exhibition.
Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. Each artist may submit up to three pieces. Entry fee: $30.00 for up to 3 works. Submissions due: February 4, 2017. Notifications by email: February 18, 2017. Accepted works due: March 7, 2017. Exhibition dates: March 14 - April 29, 2017. Reception: Thursday, March 16, 2017, 5:00-7:00pm at d'Art Center. Awards: Best in Show $300.00, Second Place $200.00, Third Place $100.00. Juror: Carola Jones, mixed media artist specializing in handmade embellished wearables.
