About This Call
The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) announces an exhibition opportunity for Chicago-based artists at the Chicago Cultural Center. The exhibition, titled "The Subject is Chicago: People, Places, and Possibilities," is conceived to engage the broadest possible cross-section of Chicago artists—including age, geographic diversity, and level of professional accomplishment—and seeks submissions that illuminate the experience of living in Chicago.
Eligibility: Artists must be residents of Chicago, Illinois; United States citizens or permanent legal residents; at least 18 years old; and not enrolled as students in a college or university. DCASE is unable to pay funds to individuals with outstanding debt with the City of Chicago.
Applications are submitted online through CaFE (Call for Entries) at www.callforentry.org. Artists must submit images of up to 3 separate artworks. Work sample requirements: minimum 3 images, maximum 6 images; optional audio (maximum 1); optional video (maximum 1); total samples between 3 and 8. The application deadline is November 13, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The online application opens October 14, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. CST. Selected artists will receive a $150 artist fee. Artwork delivery is scheduled for mid-January 2017, and the exhibition opens mid-February 2017 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington. Applicants will be notified of results in late December. For inquiries, contact [email protected] or [email protected].
