About This Call
The State of Water Juried Art Exhibition explores various "states" of water, from literal to figurative interpretations. The exhibition will be held at the Cade Museum (811 South Main Street, Gainesville, FL 32601) from April 13-30, 2023, in conjunction with the Water State Festival on April 15th. Play Hard Florida will provide funding for free admission to both the exhibition and the Cade's collection.
Established and emerging artists in North Central Florida are eligible to submit up to 2 entries. Entry fees are $25 for the first object and $10 for a second object. Works must be original art completed in the last two years in most media, including painting, drawing, illustration, photography, print media, ceramic, sculpture, video, and mixed media. Two-dimensional works must not exceed 50"H x 50"L x 5"D and must have hanging hardware. Three-dimensional works must be self-supporting, stable, with no sharp edges, weigh less than 60 pounds, and not exceed 90"H x 50"L x 50"D. Each entry requires a high-resolution digital image (up to 5 images or 2 videos). Submissions are due by 9:59pm EST on March 26, 2023.
A panel of five jurors (University of Florida professors and distinguished artists) will select works for exhibition and award cash prizes: First Place ($650), Second Place ($350), Third Place ($150), and Honorable Mention ($50). Total cash awards are $1,200. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 27th. Artists retain all copyrights to submitted images. Artwork delivery is the artist's responsibility, with accepted works due April 6-8, 2023. All works sold during the exhibition have a 20% commission retained from the sale price. Insurance and liability are the artist's responsibility.
