The State of the State

Ventura College's New Media Gallery invites artists to submit work for The State of the State exhibition. This juried competition examines the state of the world through the eyes of artists in regard to history, culture, diversity, ethnicity, climate, wildlife, workforce, healthcare, family, government, entertainment, beauty, and fashion. The exhibition considers interpretations of the State of the Union, a state of mind, the condition of the world, and the position of cultural, political, social, and economic opportunities.

Entry fee is $35 for up to 3 JPEG images. Submissions must be received by January 18, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Selected artists will be notified by email by January 25, 2019. The exhibition runs March 7 through April 12, 2019, with a reception on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Juror: Christophe Bourely. Awards: First Place $450, Second Place $250, Third Place $150.

Work specifications: 2D artwork no larger than 60"h x 48"w; 3D artwork no larger than 24"h x 24"w x 24"d. Accepted artwork must be delivered or shipped ready to hang or exhibit. Hand delivery is available February 18-21, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Shipped work must arrive February 17-22 in reusable containers with prepaid return shipping. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insuring work in transit. The gallery will insure artwork while on campus.
