About This Call
The Snowball Effect is a juried exhibition hosted by The Firefly Artists that celebrates winter-inspired art and the creative process artists go through to bring their visions to life. Artists are invited to share wintertime-inspired works and may submit a paragraph or early sketch for each piece describing the spark of inspiration and their creative journey.
Artists living on Long Island and in the surrounding region are eligible, provided they can pick up and drop off work in person. All original media are acceptable, including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, collage, fabric work, glasswork, jewelry, and digital media. Maximum piece size (including framing) is 30" x 40". All artwork must be original (not created in a workshop or class under instruction), not reproductions (except photography), and must be for sale. The gallery takes a 35% commission. Artists are responsible for insuring their own works.
Entry fee is $35 for one submission; up to three additional pieces may be submitted for $5 each. Up to two pieces per selected artist will be included in the exhibition. Awards include First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention. The exhibition runs January 4-30, 2022 at The Darcy Gallery (2nd floor, 162 Main Street, Northport, NY). Note: there is no handicapped access to this venue. Selected works must be delivered in person on December 28, 2021 (4:00pm-6:00pm) or December 29, 2021 (3:00pm-8:00pm). Artwork pickup is February 4, 2022 (5:00pm-8:00pm) or February 6, 2022 (12:00pm-3:00pm). A storage fee of $5 per day applies for pieces left beyond February 7, 2022.
