About This Call
The Artists Gallery (TAG) has created The Shelley Lazarus Award for Excellence in Watercolor to honor Shelley Lazarus, a Founding Member of TAG Gallery since 1993 and Los Angeles-based watercolor artist and teacher. Her work is in numerous public, corporate and private collections in the U.S. and abroad, including the library at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Shelley's work was featured in the International Art Competition for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. She is a member of the Watercolor Honor Society and a signature member of the Oklahoma National Watercolor Society.
The exhibition is juried by Ted Nuttall, a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, San Diego Watercolor Society, and holds Master Signature Status with both the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and Watercolor West. Nuttall's paintings have won awards in juried exhibitions throughout the country and have been featured in numerous national and international art publications.
The award is open to artists over 18 years old residing in the United States. Entries must be original watercolor artworks created within the last three years. Artists may submit up to six original artworks as high-resolution JPEGs (1-3 MB). Entry fee is $35 for the first entry, with additional entries at $5 each. All artwork must be for sale; TAG Gallery receives 35% commission. Awards: First Place $500, Second Place $250, Third Place $100. The exhibition runs March 8 - April 1, 2023, at TAG Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Reception and Award Ceremony: March 25, 2023, 5-9pm. Artwork must be prepared to hang with appropriate wire and hardware. Artwork less than 40 inches wide including frame.
