The Seeing of Sound - An Open Juried International Exhibition

The Seeing of Sound is an open juried international exhibition seeking artwork that reflects ambient sounds through visual expression. All forms of visual media and processes are encouraged, including printmaking, painting, drawing, sculptures, fibers, recycled materials, mixed media, and assemblage.

Artists may submit up to 20 images. Entry fee is $40 for non-ALRI members (includes first image), with $15 for each additional image. ALRI members receive a discount code for reduced fees ($30 entry, $9 per additional image). All artwork must be original, exhibition-ready, and previously unexhibited with ALRI. Work must be appropriate for viewers of all ages and cannot contain overt nudity, sexually explicit material, profanity, or controversial subject matter. Maximum size is 36" wide by 48" high including frame. 3D work must have a footprint of 24" x 24" or less and weigh no more than 35 lbs. All artwork should be plug and play, self-contained, and self-running, as power but not electronic equipment or internet access will be supplied.

The exhibition runs December 5, 2019 through February 14, 2020 at The VETS Gallery, One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI 02903. Jurors are Karen Rand Anderson and Lisa Churchville. Awards: 1st Prize $300, 2nd Prize $200, 3rd Prize $100. Notification of acceptance will be sent by November 3, 2019. Drop-off dates are November 25-26, 2019. Reception and awards ceremony is December 5, 2019 (5:30-8pm EDT). Pick-up is February 18-19, 2020.
