About This Call

The Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County announces a national juried 2025 Black History Month exhibition titled The Seed & The Sower. This exhibition speaks to the strength of connectivity found in Black female familial relationships and explores themes of lineage, legacy, honoring the past, relishing the present, and hope for the future. The exhibition will be hosted at the Arts Center Gallery in Fayetteville, NC from January 24th, 2025 through February 28th, 2025.

This call is specifically for Black female artists of all ages and skill levels. Submissions may include 2D and 3D works, with a maximum of three pieces per artist. The entry fee is $15. Work must not have been previously shown in the gallery. Online submissions are accepted from November 25th, 2024 through December 24th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists are encouraged to submit promptly as rolling acceptances will occur throughout the call period. Notification of acceptance will be sent by January 7th, 2025 via email. Artwork must be received by January 20th, 2025. All artwork should have a wire backing and be able to fit through a standard size door frame.

The exhibition includes an award pool: First Place (Gold Award of Excellence) $500, Second Place (Silver) $300, Third Place (Bronze) $200, and Honorable Mention $100. A private artist reception will be held January 24th, 2025 from 5-6 p.m., followed by a public reception, juror remarks, and award announcements from 6-8 p.m. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the gallery, including insurance during transit. The Arts Council will cover insurance and liability while artwork is displayed. All work will be shipped back or picked up by March 6th, 2025. For questions, contact [email protected].
