About This Call
Studio Texas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, hosts The Rolling Hills at Round Top Plein Air Festival 2026, a 5-day event from April 21–26, 2026. Twelve artists will be juried in to participate, painting in and around Round Top, Texas. Artist housing is provided on a best-efforts basis.
Entry fee is $75. Artist entry must include an artist's statement (50 words or less), an artist's bio (120 words or less), 3 pieces of art, and a photo of the artist. Participants must attend orientation on Tuesday, April 21 at 4:00 PM. Artists must submit at least four plein air paintings (complete with event stamp) created during the official painting period of April 22–24, 2026, for judging. All contest paintings must be for sale at a minimum of $450. Paintings must be 8 x 8 inches minimum (or 32 inches) and no side may exceed 36 inches, excluding frame. All work must be in gallery-quality frames, wired, and ready for hanging. Artwork must be submitted by 4 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Awards include $6,000 in cash prizes and manufacturer's awards. Sales will be processed by Studio Texas with a 60% split to artists and 40% to Studio Texas. A VIP reception will be held Saturday, April 25 from 1:30–3:00 PM. The Wet Gallery will be open to the public Saturday, April 25 from 3:30–6:00 PM and Sunday, April 26 from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM.
