About This Call
Blue Line Arts is hosting a competition for fine artists inspired by contemporary music. Create artwork inspired by modern and contemporary music through paintings, sculptures, or any form of artistic expression that music evokes in you. The exhibition will be held in the 2100 sq. ft. Coker Family Gallery at Blue Line Arts.
Joe Satriani will judge the competition with prizes for first place ($500), second place ($200), and third place ($100). A People's Choice Award ($100 gift certificate from Stone Vintage Music) will also be awarded. The exhibition will be dedicated to Tower Records founder Russ Solomon. Additionally, two photography shows will be featured: R Michael DeChellis's unpublished photographs from the 1960s of famous Rock Stars including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and The Rolling Stones, and Ben Fargen's one-person show of classic Rock and Roll gear photographs.
Entry fee is $35 for three images; additional images are $5 each. Submit 3-10 images. All artwork must be ready to hang, for sale, and cannot have been previously exhibited at Blue Line Arts. Size limitations: artwork must fit through doors with 94"h x 91"w clearance and weigh no more than 60 lbs. Artists are responsible for shipping costs. Exhibition dates: May 24 – July 27. Artist notification: May 9. Shipping deadline: May 17. Hand delivery: May 19-20, 10 am-3 pm. Opening Reception: June 15, 5-8 pm. Closing Reception: July 20, 5-8 pm. Pickup of unsold work: July 28-29, 10 am-3 pm. Non-member artists receive 50% commission from gallery sales; members receive 60%. Open to international artists, 18 years or older.
