The Rice Gallery of Fine Art - Juried Plein Air Show

The Rice Gallery of Fine Art is accepting submissions for the annual Juried Plein Air Show. This juried event celebrates the plein air tradition by exhibiting, promoting, and selling works painted outdoors in the true spirit of plein air painting. Artists may submit up to 5 images of their best plein air work to be judged individually by an experienced panel of plein air judges. All selected paintings will be featured for sale in a month-long gallery exhibition at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art in Overland Park, Kansas, opening Friday, February 24th, 2017 and concluding Friday, March 31st, 2017. Selected works will also be included in an online digital art opening with high-resolution images presented via Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and www.thericegallery.com. All selected paintings are eligible for cash prizes, with prize winners announced no later than Friday, February 24th, 2017.

Eligibility requirements: All submissions must be original plein air paintings ideally completed in the last 12 months. No prints, reproductions, or photography are eligible. All artwork must be completely dry, framed, and wired securely for hanging. Canvases must be framed or museum wrapped with finished/painted edges and wired to hang. Works on paper must be protected under glass or plexi-glass. No NFS (not for sale) paintings are eligible. Selected works must be received by The Rice Gallery of Fine Art no later than Friday, February 3rd, 2017. Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses and insurance for works selected for exhibition.

Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable). All entries must be submitted via CAFÉ by Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists must be CAFÉ members to submit. The Rice Gallery of Fine Art will collect a 35% commission on any paintings sold during the exhibition. All selected paintings must be consigned for sale with a predetermined sales price provided by the artist.
