The Rice Gallery of Fine Art - Juried Plein Air Gallery Exhibition

The Rice Gallery of Fine Art is accepting submissions for the Juried Plein Air Gallery Exhibition, an opportunity for plein air artists to compete for cash prizes while promoting and selling their works. This juried event celebrates the plein air tradition by exhibiting, promoting, and selling an exclusive survey of works painted outdoors in the true spirit of plein air painting ("en plein air"). Artists may submit up to 5 images of their best plein air work to be judged on an individual basis by an experienced panel of plein air judges comprised of professional fine art gallery personnel, award-winning plein air painters, and experienced plein air festival organizers.

All selected paintings will be hung and displayed for sale in a month-long gallery exhibition opening Friday, February 5th, 2016 and concluding Friday, March 4th, 2016 at The Rice Gallery of Fine Art in Overland Park, Kansas. Selected works will also be included in an online "digital art opening" featuring high-resolution images via Facebook, YouTube, and www.thericegallery.com. All selected plein air works are eligible for cash prizes: $1,000 Best of Show, $500 Runner Up, and two $200 Honorable Mention awards. Prize winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016.

Submissions must be original plein air paintings ideally completed in the last 12 months. No prints, reproductions, or photography are eligible. All artwork must be completely dry, framed, and wired securely for hanging. Works on paper must be protected under glass or plexi-glass. The entry fee is $30 (non-refundable). All entries must be submitted via CAFÉ by Tuesday, December 15th, 2015. Selected works must be received by The Rice Gallery of Fine Art no later than Friday, January 15th, 2016. Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses and insurance. The Rice Gallery will collect a 35% commission on any paintings sold during the exhibition. All selected paintings must be available for sale for the duration of the exhibition.
