The Red Show 2016 Season

CORE New Art Space invites artists to participate in The Red Show, a juried exhibition celebrating the color red in any media. Throughout history and across cultures, red represents events and emotions at the core of the human condition—danger and courage, revolution and war, violence, sin, desire, and passion, even life itself. Artists are invited to show their interpretation of this powerful hue.

Submit 1-3 images of your work (2 shots per piece for 3-D work). The entry fee is $35. The juror is Deborah Courtney, owner of the Denver Art Company, with 30 years of experience in art selection and placement, international curation, and previous jury experience with major art festivals. Judging will be based on overall impact, content, composition, mastery of techniques, creativity, and craftsmanship. Please explain your interpretation of red with your submission.

Show dates are September 8-25, 2016. Notification of acceptance will be sent August 17. Work must arrive by September 3 if shipped, or be dropped off locally by September 4 at 4:00 pm. An artist reception is scheduled for September 9. Art must be completely dry, with suitable hanging means (no sawtooth hangers). Standing art must be stable. CORE charges a 30% commission plus tax on sold work, with payment rebated within 45 days of the show's close. Art need not be for sale. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance. Artwork must be shipped in reusable boxes with prepaid return shipping labels. Local artists may hand deliver during gallery hours or by appointment. All artwork must be picked up by 5:00 pm on September 25, 2016.
