About This Call
The Inaugural Public Art Exhibition will be held from September to December 31, 2011 at the Coastal Discovery Museum Honey Horn Plantation on Hilton Head Island. Regional, national and international sculpture artists are invited to submit work for display during the event.
A nationally-recognized jury will review and select sculptures for the exhibition. Selected sculptors will be awarded a $2,000 participation stipend, and outstanding artworks will receive cash prize awards. The jurors will also consider artwork for purchase at $50,000 to $75,000, with selected pieces becoming part of Hilton Head Island's permanent public art collection. Public promotion and the awards ceremony will take place September 24-November 5, 2011, though artists are strongly encouraged to leave their pieces on site through December 31, 2011.
Submission requirements include a brief biography, vitae/resume, proposed budget if applicable, directions for installation and removal, and a maximum of 3 entries illustrated by 2 images per entry. Entry fee is $35.00. Submit 1-6 images total.
