The Power of Pastel

This is a member exhibition designed to showcase local pastel artists and promote pastel as a contemporary, thriving art medium to the community. The exhibition runs March 29 – April 26, 2026 at Barnes and Noble, 3349 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY 14618 (Monday–Saturday 9am–9pm, Sunday 10am–8pm). A reception will be held Friday, April 10, 6–8pm.

Eligibility: PSWNY membership dues must be paid to participate. Entries must be created within the last three years and not previously shown in other PSWNY exhibitions. Paintings cannot exceed 60 inches on the longest side before framing. All work must be original (subject, photography, composition, drawing, and painting). Work must be at least 80% soft pastel and cannot be produced in instructional classes or workshops. Only two-dimensional works are accepted; no diptychs or triptychs. All paintings must be well-framed and supported by picture wire only with covered wire ends. Dirty or damaged matboard or frames will not be hung.

Entry and Fees: PSWNY members only, $10 per painting, up to 3 paintings allowed. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be submitted by the deadline (March 17, 2026). Artwork must be delivered to Barnes and Noble on Sunday, March 29, 2:00–3:00pm. Shipped work is not accepted. Work cannot be picked up until after the show closes. Awards include PSWNY Members Choice Award and People's Choice Award, each $50 RAS gift card. All sales are handled by artists.
