The Power of Abstracts

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to this exhibition. The gallery seeks abstract art that emphasizes the essential elements of line, shape, color, form and gestural mark to achieve intense and rhythmic effects. Any style of abstract art is welcome, from drip paintings to color field impressions to geometric designs. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 different images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Only 2D artwork will be accepted; no reproductions or derivatives of other artists' work are permitted. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Pieces should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side or weigh more than 45 lbs.

The exhibition runs July 29 through August 24, 2022. Artists will be notified of acceptance by July 6, 2022. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery by July 26, 2022 via UPS or FedEx only; hand-delivered work will not be accepted. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed with artwork. Awards include First Prize $450, Second Prize $250, and Third Prize $100. One artist will be selected from all accepted artists during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. The gallery retains a 30% commission on sales; artists receive 70% of the final sale price. All artwork must remain in the gallery for the full duration of the exhibition.
