The Pleasure of Color

The Pleasure of Color is an exhibition exploring how color affects our emotions and attitudes. Artists are invited to submit work that demonstrates the pleasure found in color combinations, saturation, and emotional resonance.

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists living within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. Artwork must not exceed 48" including frame, stand, and all materials. The exhibition is open to most visual arts media except video. Original artwork only is accepted; no giclées or reproductions, though editions are acceptable if they are original works such as printmaking, photography, or limited original digital art. Artwork must be for sale and cannot have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Submit 1-3 images through CallForEntry.org. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with discounts available for AWD Artist Members.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on February 4 or 5. Accepted work must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between February 25-27, 10am-4pm. The exhibition runs March 5–April 11, 2021. Virtual receptions are scheduled for March 12 and April 9 at 6pm via Zoom. Unsold artwork may be picked up April 14-17, 10am-4pm. Art Works Downtown retains a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a $3.00 per day storage fee; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
