The PASEO 2025 Outdoor Art Festival

The PASEO is a two-day outdoor art festival dedicated to installation, performance, and projection art in the Taos Historic District of Taos, New Mexico. Scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, September 12th and 13th, 2025, the festival runs from sunset to 11pm. In its tenth year, PASEO 2024 brought thousands of people to downtown Taos to experience this annual celebration.

The festival seeks work that is immersive, participatory, and site-responsive with dynamic impact in the historic district. Installations must be designed for nighttime viewing, and artists must be on-site from sunset to 11pm on both days. Artwork must withstand the outdoor high desert environment of Northern New Mexico. Overnight security is provided. The PASEO is seeking 20 installations for 2025 and provides stipends ranging from $500-$3,000, with larger projects funded at $5,000-$15,000. Stipend amounts are contingent on size, complexity, and anticipated festival impact. PASEO provides funds for artwork shipping, but artists are responsible for installation. Artists are encouraged to respond to the 2025 theme "Thresholds" and may submit proposals for workshops, lectures, and forums for the community.

Submissions must be fully executed projects, not concept proposals. All work must be original and created by or under the direction of the artist(s); collaborations are welcome. Artwork must match the type and quality submitted for jurying. The application requires a project statement, project proposal document (including title, statement, installation requirements, and budget), artist bio/CV, and minimum of three images (maximum five). Entry fee is $20 ($0 for Taos County residents with coupon code FREETAOS). Applicants may submit up to three applications. The festival is open to emerging, mid-career, and professional artists over age 21 from anywhere in the world. Entry deadline is March 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
