The PASEO 2020

The PASEO is a two-day outdoor art festival dedicated to installation, performance art, and projection in the Taos Downtown Historic District, scheduled for September 18th and 19th, 2020. The festival is in its seventh year and seeks 20-25 installations for 2020. Artists must be on site from sunset to 11pm daily. Artwork must be designed for outdoor and nighttime viewing and able to withstand the high desert environment of Northern New Mexico. Overnight security is provided.

The PASEO seeks immersive, site-responsive, and participatory works that will make a dynamic impact within the historic district. Applicants are encouraged to respond to the 2020 theme, "Transformations," which explores growth, metamorphosis, and evolution. Submissions must be fully executed projects, not concept proposals. All work must be original and created by or under the direction of the artist(s). Collaborations are welcome. Artwork must match the type and quality submitted for jurying.

Stipends range from $250-$2,500, with 2-3 projects funded at $5,000-$10,000. Stipend amounts are contingent on size, complexity, and anticipated festival impact. The PASEO provides funds for shipping artwork, but artists are responsible for installation, with festival staff and volunteers available to assist. The festival does not hire live bands or musical performances; it hosts Performance Art as defined by the four basic elements of time, space, the performer's body or presence in a medium, and a relationship between performer and audience. Entry fee is $15.00. Artists may submit up to 3 applications. Work samples must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 total samples, which may consist of 3-6 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files.
