About This Call
The PASEO is an outdoor art festival dedicated to bringing installation, performance, and projection art to the streets of Taos, New Mexico. This two-day event takes place September 23rd and 24th, 2016, in the Taos Downtown Historic District. Artists must be on site 5pm-10pm daily. The festival is in its third year and seeks work designed for outdoor and nighttime viewing that can withstand the high desert environment of Northern New Mexico. Overnight security is provided.
The PASEO welcomes installations, projection, and performance art that is immersive, participatory, context-responsive, or engages with people and the unique architecture of the historic town. Submissions must be fully executed projects, not concept proposals. All work must be original and created by the artist(s); collaborations are welcome. Artwork must match the type and quality submitted for jurying. Artists are responsible for providing equipment and installation, though the festival provides staff and volunteers to assist. Some large equipment such as sound systems can be provided on a case-by-case basis. Stipends are available.
New media artists are invited to submit proposals for STEMarts LAB @ The PASEO, an educational program partnering artists with K-12 and secondary schools in Taos. Selected artists share their art-making process with students who perform or install work at the event. Artists are also encouraged to submit suggestions for daytime forums, lectures, or educational learning labs. Entry fee is $25.00. Submit 3-6 images (required), and up to 3 audio files and/or 3 video files. Up to 3 applications per artist are allowed. International artists are eligible.
