The Northwest Experience

In honor of John Clymer, who traveled, painted and lived throughout the Northwest, the Clymer Museum and Gallery presents "The Northwest Experience." The museum seeks representational works demonstrating the artistic interpretation of the sense of place inspired by the Northwest. Sense of place grows from identifying oneself in relation to a particular piece of land, location, town, city, county, state and/or region, implying the human experience in culture, history and/or folklore.

Applicants must be residing in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AK, BC). Work must be the original work of the artist; gallery or dealer submissions are not accepted. Work that is damaged, unframed or appears largely inconsistent from submission images is subject to rejection. Entry fee is $25 (nonrefundable). Submit 3 digital slides clearly labeled with media, size, and whether art is for sale (with pricing) or not for sale (with declared value). Juried applicants will be notified of results by January 31, 2014.

Selected works will be displayed at the Clymer Museum and Gallery from March 7, 2014 through April 26, 2014. Work must remain in the show for the duration of the exhibition. 3D work should not exceed seventy pounds and be ready for display. 2D work should not exceed forty inches in any dimension and must be framed with all hardware for hanging. Artists are responsible for delivery by March 3, 2014, and return shipping costs. The museum will retain a 35% commission for all sales during the exhibition and sales directly resulting from display. Best in Show receives a solo exhibition at the Clymer Museum and Gallery in 2015 plus $500. Additional awards: First Place $250, Second Place $150, Peoples Choice $100.
