About This Call
Studio Channel Islands Art Center invites artists to submit their most recent breakthrough pieces for The Next Big Thing 2022. All media and styles are welcome, including 2D/3D works, video, film, performance, sound, and installation art. All submissions must be original artwork completed within the last three years. Artists must be 18 years or older.
The entry fee is $45 for non-members and $35 for members with coupon code. Submissions must include 1-6 work samples (images and/or video). The juror is David Pagel, an art critic, curator, and professor of art theory and history at Claremont Graduate University. The Juror's Awards will be given to three works: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $500, and 3rd Place $200. All successful artists will receive professional installation documentation of the exhibition (worth $1,500).
The exhibition runs August 6 - September 24, 2022, with an opening reception on August 6, 2022 from 4 PM – 6 PM. Artist notification date is July 15. Artwork drop-off is August 2, 9am-6pm. Pick-up day is September 27, 9am-6:30pm. 2D artwork must be no larger than 8ft high and delivered ready to hang. Pedestals will be provided for 3D artwork. All placement and installation will be done at the discretion of the professional installation team. Artwork previously exhibited at the Blackboard Gallery is not permissible.
