About This Call
Studio Channel Islands invites artists to submit their most recent breakthrough pieces for The Next Big Thing 2019. All media and styles are welcome, including video, film, performance, sound, and installation art. All submissions must be the artist's original work, and all equipment must be provided by the artist.
Entry fee is $45 for non-members and $35 for members with coupon code. Artists may submit between 1 and 6 total work samples, which can include images, audio, or video files. The juror is Mat Gleason, an internationally recognized art critic and curator of contemporary practice.
The exhibition runs June 1 - July 20, 2019, with an opening reception on June 1 from 4 PM - 6 PM. Artist notification date is May 17. Artwork drop-off is May 28 from 9am-6pm. Awards include three Juror's Awards with cash prizes: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $200, and 3rd Place $100. Winners will be announced at 4:45pm during the opening reception. Artwork pickup is July 23 from 9am-6:30pm.
