The Next Big Thing 2018

Studio Channel Islands invites artists to submit their most recent breakthrough pieces across all media and styles. This exhibition accepts 2D/3D work, video, film, performance, sound, and installation art. All submissions must be the artist's original work, and all equipment must be provided by the artist.

Entry fee is $45 for non-members and $35 for members with coupon code. Artists may submit between 1 and 6 total work samples, which can include images, audio, or video files. The juror is Peter Frank, an art critic, curator, and poet who was the senior curator at the Riverside Art Museum and an art critic for Angeleno magazine and LA Weekly.

Awards include three juror's awards with cash prizes: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $200, and 3rd Place $100. The exhibition runs July 5 - August 18, 2018, with an opening reception on July 7, 2018 from 4 PM – 6 PM. Artist notification date is June 22nd. Artwork drop-off is July 3rd from 9am-6pm. Pick-up day is August 21st from 9am-6:30pm.
