The New Vanguard - Explorations into the New Contemporary V

The New Vanguard: Explorations into the New Contemporary V is an international juried competition open to all artists 18 years or older working in painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, digital, collage, fiber, sculpture, and photography. The competition seeks art that pushes boundaries in genres including High Brow, Low Brow, Pop Surrealism, Hyperrealism, Graffiti Art, and Abstract Art. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Submitted work must have been executed in the last five years. No AI generated or assisted artwork is permitted.

Entry fee is $40 for three images and $5 for each additional image, with a maximum of 20 images. Work sample requirements: minimum 3 images, maximum 20. 2D work maximum dimensions are 6x10 feet and must not weigh more than 50 lbs uncrated. 3D work may not exceed 80"x32"x48" and must not exceed 50 lbs. Submission deadline is January 2, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be by January 3, 2024. Deadline for receiving shipped work is January 17, 2024. Exhibition dates are January 19 – February 16, 2024, with an artist reception on Friday January 19, 5:00-8:00pm.

The juror is Jared Antonio-Justo Trujillo, an artist and gallery director at KEEP Contemporary who has curated exhibitions for art institutions across the US. The gallery will retain a 40% commission on all sales. Artwork will be insured by the gallery for the duration of the exhibit and must remain on display for the full exhibition period. All works must be for sale with prices determined by the artist. Shipped work will be returned the week of February 19, 2024 using a prepaid return label. Hand-delivered work may be picked up Saturday February 17, 2024, 11:00am-5:00pm. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements, including insurance during transit. Works must be shipped in reusable cartons or crates with a prepaid return shipping label.
