The New Vanguard: Explorations into the New Contemporary

The New Vanguard: Explorations into the New Contemporary is an international juried competition open to all artists working in painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, digital, collage, sculpture, and photography. The competition seeks art that pushes boundaries in genres including High Brow, Low Brow, Pop Surrealism, Hyperrealism, Graffiti Art, and Abstract Art. Entrants must be 18 years or older, and submitted work must have been executed in the last five years. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible.

Submission deadline is January 13, 2020. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent by January 27, 2020. Shipped work must arrive by February 17, 2020, and hand-delivered work must be delivered by February 17, 2020. The exhibition runs February 21 – March 15, 2020, with an artist reception on Friday, February 21, 5:00-8:00pm. The juror is Jared Antonio-Justo Trujillo, an artist and gallery director at KEEP Contemporary.

Entry fee is $40 for one to three images, plus $5 for each additional image (maximum 7 images). Submit 3-7 images. 2D work maximum dimensions are 6x10 feet and must not weigh more than 50 lbs uncrated. 3D work may not exceed 80"x32"x48" and must not exceed 50 lbs. All work must be for sale with prices determined by the artist. The gallery retains a 40% commission on sales. Artwork will be insured for the duration of the exhibit and must remain on display throughout. 2D artwork must be wired for hanging with flat devices such as D-rings. Shipped work will be returned the week of March 16, 2020 using a prepaid return label. Hand-delivered work may be picked up Monday, March 16, 2020, 10:00am-5:00pm. The artist is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements, including insurance. All shipped work must include a prepaid return shipping label and be sent in reusable cartons or crates.
