About This Call
Officers as Artists: The Creative Expression of Those Who Serve
This exhibition celebrates the creative expression and transformative power of art by law enforcement officers. The exhibition serves as a platform for officers to showcase their creativity, highlighting how art has been an integral part of who they are as individuals who also happen to be officers, or how art has been instrumental as they navigate a complex profession, critical relationships, and process traumatic experiences. The exhibition aims to shed light on the role of art and discover the many ways in which creative expression serves law enforcement officers.
Entry is open to all active and retired law enforcement officers. Artists may submit in only one of two categories: Two-Dimensional Artwork or Three-Dimensional Artwork. Two-dimensional work must be hung on a wall or panel, ready to hang, securely framed, and fitted with a wire. Three-dimensional work must be pedestal ready and stable for display without additional support, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds (including custom stand if necessary). Pedestal surface areas range from 14" L x 14" W to 30" L x 30" W, with heights ranging from 30" to 42" H. All artworks must be original; no prints, photographs, or reproductions will be exhibited. Submissions must include 1-5 digital images (no larger than 4MB each). The exhibition runs from September 26, 2024 through August 30, 2025. Contact [email protected] or call 301-420-8259 for submission assistance.
