About This Call

Every other year, the Lycée Français de Chicago's Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program welcomes a creator to develop an artistic project in a school setting. The LFC is seeking a creative collaborator for the next school year. While the program is particularly interested in artists exploring textile and fiber arts or ceramics, all disciplines are welcome: architecture, visual arts, performing arts (music, theater, dance, circus), digital arts, comics, film/animation, design, graphic design, literature, photography, murals/street art, and more. The most inclusive project—involving the most students and grade levels (from pre-K to Grade 12)—will be selected.

Eligibility requirements: The artist must be a working professional, speak French and/or English, have previous work experience in a school (preferred), and clear a background check. The artist will receive a total stipend of $15,000 to cover all expenses including housing, airfare, and materials and supplies necessary for the residency. A work space will be made available at the LFC during the school's normal hours of operation. The LFC will support the artist in networking with local organizations, partners, and other stakeholders including cultural and academic institutions.

Application deadline: April 15, 2026. No application fee. For questions, contact [email protected].
