About This Call
The Light Factory announces its 12th Annuale, a photography competition showcasing work from fine art photographers throughout the international photographic community. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cohesive body of work; all photographic techniques and approaches are welcome. The exhibition will consist of 4–6 photographers, each represented by 5–7 images (size permitting).
The Light Factory is a center for photography located in Charlotte, North Carolina, dedicated to inspiring and empowering the community through thought-provoking exhibitions, world-class education, and vibrant community engagement. For over 45 years, The Light Factory has featured artists including Sally Mann, Ansel Adams, Tina Barney, Debbie Luster, Keith Carter, Annie Leibovitz, Ralph Gibson, Susan Kae Grant, Edward Weston, Jerry Uelsmann, Richard Renaldi, Bill Viola, Andres Serrano, and Mary Ellen Mark.
Entrants must submit 5–7 images from a specific series or body of work, along with a short statement (no more than 150 words) and a current résumé or curriculum vitae. Artists may submit up to two different applications. The entry fee is $35 per series. All photographic techniques and approaches are welcome. The exhibition runs April 23 – July 31, 2020. Winning entries must arrive by April 10, 2020. An honorarium of $200 is awarded to accepted artists to help offset shipping costs. Selected artists are responsible for packing and paying for shipping and transit insurance. All work must arrive ready to install and meet professional standards. Work will be returned or picked up by August 1, 2020. All work, unless indicated as not for sale, will be available for sale during the exhibition, with The Light Factory retaining a 40% commission on sales. The juror is Julie Grahame, a consultant and curator with 30 years in the photography industry.
