The Landscape

Alex Ferrone Gallery invites entries for The Landscape, a national juried exhibition of traditional and alternative photography in color or black & white, photo-based works, paintings, mixed media, and small sculptural works depicting the landscape theme. The juror is photographic visual artist John Paul Caponigro, who will select thought-provoking, creative works expressing the theme with representational or abstract interpretations showcasing natural land scenery, environments, geography, and natural or manmade landscape subjects. Aspects to consider include compelling abstraction, dramatic compositions, varied vantage points, detailed lines, shades, textures, rich tones, environmental concerns, and expressive scenes. Avoid submissions featuring people, animals, sunrises, and sunsets unless the physical landscape is the main focal point.

This competition is open to national artists and photographers 18 years or older. All works must be framed to a maximum of 13x13 inches (including frame) in white or natural light wood or flat metal frames. Forty works will be selected for exhibition from November 26, 2022 – January 16, 2023. Entry fee is $45 for three works; $5 per additional work, maximum five works total. Entries must not have been previously shown at or submitted to Alex Ferrone Gallery. All accepted works must remain available for the full exhibition duration and cannot be displayed elsewhere during the exhibition or for six months thereafter. All works must be for sale with a 50/50 commission split between artist and gallery.

Submission deadline is October 29, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted entries will be notified by November 6, 2022. Framed works must arrive at the gallery November 17-22, 2022. Opening reception is Saturday, November 26 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Unsold works must be picked up January 17-21, 2023.
