About This Call
The Jordan Art Walk seeks 6-8 sculptures for placement along a municipal walkway connecting the east and west sides of East Jordan, Michigan. The pathway connects where the Jordan River empties into Lake Charlevoix and provides access for pedestrian, bicycle, and motorized vehicle traffic. Sculptures will be placed along this pathway and into the downtown area, anchored by a city park on the west side river estuary and the municipal harbor/concert shell on the east side.
Selected sculptures will be installed for 3 years (June 15, 2023 through June 2026) on city property with concrete pads provided to fit the works. Artists receive a $600 stipend. Sculptures may be for sale by the artist with a 20% commission to the committee; if sold, the work will remain in place until the end of the exhibit or be replaced with another sculpture by the artist with committee approval. Artists are responsible for installing and deinstalling their artworks.
Eligibility is open to any professional or student 3D artist 18 years or older. A jurying committee of local artists and citizens will select works based on artistic merit, safe design and construction, durability for year-round outdoor display, and compatibility with the East Jordan setting. Submit 1-4 images of 3D work. The application deadline is April 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
