About This Call

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center's Arts/Industry program is accepting applications from January 1 to February 28, 2026, for 12 residency openings in 2027. This prestigious program has hosted hundreds of artists from 25 countries over more than 50 years. The program provides artists the opportunity to explore new ideas, processes, and perspectives while creating work using the resources, technology, and materials of the Kohler Co. factory in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Artists-in-residence receive 24-hour access to studio space located in Kohler Co.'s industrial foundry and pottery, industrial materials, use of equipment, technical assistance, photographic services, housing, round-trip transportation, and a modest weekly stipend. Experience working in metal or clay is not required. The program welcomes artists from all disciplines—including Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, and Sculpture—who are curious about how industrial processes and environments can shape their work. Artists-in-residence have access to cutting-edge facilities and technologies that can expand the boundaries of their practice.
