The Human Impact: New Directions in Landscape Photography

The Human Impact: New Directions in Landscape Photography explores the ongoing debate about preserving nature versus accommodating the increasing demands of the human race. How is this debate affecting the way we look at nature and how is contemporary photography shaping our opinions of what constitutes an ideal landscape? Concepts of landscape can be broadly defined and are not necessarily devoid of people and man-made objects.

Submissions are limited to all artists residing and/or studying in Northern California, working in photographic processes. Applicants must submit 3-10 images. Entry fee is $25.00. All applicants will receive 15% off one in-store order with Light Waves Imaging.

Accepted artists will exhibit their work in Book & Job Gallery for two weeks (October 26 - November 9, 2013). The top three artists voted by jurors will receive stipends: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $300 to Light Waves Imaging. Light Waves will also offer their services to all accepted artists at 50% off. All hanging work must be properly framed and have a hanging wire, with framed artwork limited to 30 inches in longest dimension.
