The Human Figure

Artists are invited to submit original artwork for "The Human Figure" exhibit at R Gallery in Boulder, Colorado. The gallery seeks artwork in all styles and mediums that incorporate the theme of the human figure, represented in formal, conceptual, emotional, and imaginative ways. Artwork should focus on pieces that evoke the sense of the human form, including textures, emotions, materials, colors, and concepts; this can consist of literal representation or symbolic interpretation of the human figure theme.

The human form has been reflected in art for thousands of years, from cave drawings to contemporary works in painting, fiber arts, and photography. Whether in action or repose, the human figure is understood through cultural, anatomical, and conceptional narratives. Artists are encouraged to share work that explores the human figure and reveals the synergy in breath, love, motion, contemplation, or any constructive or deconstructive aspect of the human experience.

Eligibility: Colorado residents only. All entries must be of original design and personal execution. Accepted categories include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media. The submission deadline is December 26, 2021. The exhibit runs January 19 through February 20, 2022, with an artists' reception on Friday, January 21, 6pm-8pm. Accepted works must arrive at least 3 days before the exhibit start date. R Gallery charges a 50% commission on all sales unless otherwise stated in artist agreements. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale at a reasonable price for the local market. Work will be returned within 2 weeks after the exhibit closes. Entry fee: $30.00 plus $5.00 media fee. Submit 1-10 images.
